Do You Attract the Wrong People?
You may be convinced that finding love is about attracting the right people.
I disagree.
I think it’s about not accepting the wrong people. Think about it: every second you spend with the wrong partner is a second that you're not looking for the right partner.
So this month – the month of Valentine's Day – please read my Dating Tip O’ The Month, and, if necessary, cut loose the person that's been weighing down your life. When you open yourself up to the unknown, the possibilities are endless.

Every week, I receive emails that sound something like this:
Dear Evan,
I'm forty-one years old and I've been told that I'm a great catch. I'm close with my friends and family, I'm well-liked at work, and I have a really kind heart. What I can't understand, however, is how the only people I seem to date are completely dysfunctional. I don't get it. I know that I'm sane and stable, yet I just seem to attract nothing but people who are emotionally unavailable, not serious about a relationship, or just plain weird. What can I do to start attracting a higher caliber date?

Maybe I haven't been all that controversial recently, but I've received nothing but nice email from my recent Yahoo Personals articles. This email was my favorite from the last month, but I'm grateful to anyone who took the time to write something thoughtful.
I'm a 44 year old guy, new to online dating (just started with Yahoo recently) and I have to say that from the little I've seen so far your articles are the BEST: VERY well written, in your unique and honest voice, with non-cliche advice (unlike most of the other trite stuff I've found on the Yahoo site). It's too early to tell if it's going to help me in the more tangible ways, but I already feel like you've helped me find more confidence to express my sense of humor and keep a healthier perspective on this crazy way to try to find chemistry.
