Hey Y'all,
No season is more conducive to dating than summer, if only because it's the easiest time to meet strangers. In the past few weeks, I've gone to a concert, a book signing, an alumni networking event, a beach party, a birthday party, and a July 4th party. And maybe it was the heat, or maybe it was the alcohol, but I noticed the phone numbers and business cards flying fast and furious. I may be the world’s biggest online dating advocate, but it’s super-important to get out in "real life" as well.
So, tomorrow, carve out a half-hour and make conversation with a stranger at a coffee shop. I know this great little book that is a HELLUVA conversation piece...
Enjoy July's newsletter.
Best,
Evan

Last month's "Why You're Still Single" New York press tour was fun, as it's always flattering to be asked for your opinion. I'm not exactly sure who wakes up at 7:30am on Saturday to watch Weekend Today or Fox and Friends, but given some of my emails, I've got a few high school friends and family members who are very early risers.
I wish you could see the Today appearance, because the host, Hoda Kotb, was the most gracious interviewer ever; the only journalist who clearly bothered to read the book before discussing it with us. And it showed. Thank you, Hoda.
Anyway, here's an excerpt on the Weekend Today site to one of the chapters about which we consistently get grilled, "You Are What You Hate".
And here's a link to our Fox and Friends clip, courtesy of the coolest (and time-wastingest) site in the world, YouTube.com. You'll notice that the tone is a little more, um, accusatory than you might expect. Hard-hitting journalism at its finest. |

I've left the magazine I created for JDate and will be writing for Match.com's Happen Magazine. There's no great story to tell about my departure, except that I wanted to write more regularly, and JDate doesn't see JMag as something to update very often. C'est la vie. Match.com's always been good to me, so I'm glad to be back. |

I did my Borders book reading to a full house on June 20th and I'm quite excited for the Barnes and Noble event on August 17th. Put it on your calendar! Hope to see you all there! |

Since our last newsletter, we've gotten FIFTEEN customer testimonials from satisfied E-Cyrano clients. But since we've seen those letters before, please allow me to post some kind words from an extremely unexpected source – a man who picked up a copy of "Why You're Still Single". This stuff warms my heart...
Hi Evan,
Just wanted to send you a brief note to let you know I think your new book is great!
I started reading it yesterday and I can't put it down. It's very funny, and just as importantly, very insightful. It may be intended for women, but it's providing me wonderful insights into the way women (and men) think. And you and Linda Holmes make a terrific author pair. I hope you guys will write another book together.
JK, New York City

Next month, we’ll have a few new articles for you, some business news that I’m holding back until it’s official, and maybe even a formal introduction to my new colleague at
E-Cyrano, Dr. Amy Trachter.
Take care and stay cool.
Warmest wishes,
Evan
