Why Men Should Say No to Sex

Before we start this issue, I couldn't resist sharing my online dating-inspired poem, "How Do I Blow Off Thee?" Ahem...

How do I blow off thee? Let me count the ways.
I blow off thee for weight and height.
For claims of age that don't seem right.
For lack of chemistry and failure to praise.
I blow off thee any number of ways.
For photos proffered and deleted on sight.
For writing clich้s, so hackneyed and trite.
I blow off thee quickly, at a wrong turn of phrase.
I blow off thee quietly, never meeting your gaze.
By hiding after saying, "I'll talk to you soon".
By calling during thy lunch break at noon.
I blow off thee after our very first date.
'Fore your habits on my nerves ever should grate.
I blow off thee to show you who's boss.
Then why do I sense it is I that has lost?

Yeah, it's a bit melancholy, but then again, sometimes so is dating.

Anyway, to get a dose of insight, humor, and non-poetry related things...keep reading.

Happy November,

Evan

Not surprisingly, the most popular blog posts this October were the most controversial ones. Read 'em all and weigh in with your own comments.

If I'm a Great Woman, Why Haven't I Met Anyone Else Great?
– My credo: "You can't change men; you can only change yourself" raises a few eyebrows among readers.

Why Would a Guy Keep in Touch If He Already Dumped Me? – Um...free sex?

Why Men Should Say No to Sex – The question was about condom usage, but I took it as a chance to share my own thoughts on sex. Once again, not everyone agrees with me.

Much has been written about online dating, but there's one question I get every single day: "What's the big deal about profiles? Nobody actually reads them, do they?"

Surely, you jest.

Go to a dating site and you'll see hundreds of attractive faces.

Finding cute is easy. Finding quality is hard.

And what separates the best from the rest is your profile.

If you don't believe me, keep reading. This article might change your life.

Two readers show how having an open mind about dating can lead to love:

I just read your article on being picky in dating and I loved it! I am over 40, Liberal, New Agey, artistic and thought I wanted a man similar...Instead I met a 26 year old Born Again Christian from India who is a Republican and we get along great! He is so much like my father I realized that I feel comfortable with his differences. In retrospect I think a passive, metaphysical guy who watches HGTV with me might bore the hell out of me! I only met this man because he looked so happy in the photo he sent and I was really tired of cynical, jaded men...And here we are!! Thanks for the great article!!!

I absolutely LOVED your book "Why You're Still Single". I learned so much about me. Most importantly it opened my eyes to a really great guy that I had not taken seriously. He's 5'4" but much more fun, and intelligent than the 6'3" Fireman that I dated. Ha! He's 36 and I'm 47, but we like a lot of the same things, so who's counting?
